I see many people complaining about how you can't chain kills in AC:R like in AC:B. Also, I see a lot of players break enemy lock during combat to deal with the enemy preparing to shoot (they use grab or drop smoke). Just sidestep (or throw a knife at them if they are in close, selectable range). The Chain continues even if the Janissaries are not dead, but you have to keep switching the enemies. Also, be prepared to do a lot of counters during this period, as Janissaries often try to attack multiple times during your chain. The key tech is to use counter-steal first, then regular attack on a single enemy to initiate the chain. The chain animation breaks when you attack a janissary(usually full heath) twice failing to kill the enemy and losing the combo streak. In short: counter steal -attack - switch target - tap attack - switch target. Repeat
