Review - Chiseled Face Groomatorium Rhinoceros

Today I explored Chiseled Face Groomatorium Rhinoceros, the recently released shaving soap. Chiseled Face (http://www.chiseledface.com/) collaborated with well known perfume house, Zoologist (https://www.zoologistperfumes.com/) to create a shaving soap to match their popular fragrance, Rhinoceros. Fist and foremost, the scent on this soap is very complex. It's really not a surprise considering that it's offered as an Eau de Parfum. The scent notes as described on the CF website are: sweet rum, leather, tobacco, smoky vetiver, dried herbs, strong pine and bitter agar. My assumption is that this scent unfolds in various ways depending on your olfactory sensitivities. In my case, the rum is punchy out of the gate, before being tamed by the musky leather. Next comes the earth tones of vetiver, herbs and pine. The completing my journey is the tobacco. Taking the easy way out, I'll just say that this accord is so well blended that I can only summarize it as a masculine smell. The scent is strong, out of the beautiful container and once lathered on the face. This scent is far too complex to try and name a comparable. The performance of this soap is as you have come to expect from Chiseled Face, excellent. The cushion, slickness and post shave are all above the average tallow based artisanal soap. I am particularly fond of the slickness Chiseled Face had always had. The performance is a direct reflection of the quality ingredients the base is made from; Stearic Acid, Aloe Vera Juice, Beef Tallow, Coconut Oil, Castor Oil, Glycerin, Fragrance, Mango Butter, Avocado Oil, Silk Powder. My comparable soap bases in terms of performance are Tallow + Steel, Stirling and Turtleship.
