Detailed instructions and extra information for Ethanol extraction: Before you start: Make sure the ethanol is high proof (at least 95% alcohol by volume or 190 proof). Make sure that your ethanol is grain-based. Do NOT use industrial ethanol, it is not for human consumption. Step 1: ethanol infusion Infuse decarbed plant material into ethanol at room temperature for at least 3 hours. Stir once or twice in between. You can leave the mixture at room temperature for weeks if you wish, but keep in mind the longer you let the plant material infuse in high-proof ethanol, the more chlorophyll and other compounds would enter the ethanol. Basically, the longer you leave it, the bitter and greener the end product becomes. If you only want cannabinoids, 3-5 hours is good. Important: don’t heat the mixture during infusion. Step 2: Filter the mixture Make sure you filter out the plant material before you start making concentrate, if you don’t, you will get sticky buds in the end. Step 3: Extract concentrate 1. Attach the condenser to the filter set first. 2. Put the infused and filtered ethanol back in the beaker, then put the beaker in the machine without a lid 3. Choose the Evaporation function 4. Apply the filter+condenser to the beaker, make sure that the filter mesh is above the liquid 5. Put a container beneath the other end of the condenser to recollect ethanol. The fan kicks in to keep the machine cool to touch after about 5 minutes. The green ring light: indicates that POT is busy cooking. As long as the green light is on, you know the machine is cooking. Wait till POT is finished. How do I know if POT is done: 1. The green light disappears, a while dot light appears. 2. Gentle beeps 3. The fan (sound) stops Important: The condenser can recover 90-95% of the ethanol. The condenser is hot during extraction, don’t touch it during cooking. You can manually stop the cooking if you wish to have tincture instead of wax. You can always lift the beaker and check it if you wish to. POT will give a warning beeping sound once you lift the beaker, but if you put the beaker back within 30 seconds, POT would resume the circle. It is difficult to get the sticky concentrate out of the beaker. But there is a hack: 1. Add a bit of grain ethanol back to the concentrate/wax 2. Stir still the wax is liquid again 3. Pour the liquid out into the flat lid 4. Leave the flat lid at room temperature or somewhere warmer (next to your heater), wait for a couple of hours, the ethanol will evaporate and leave the concentrate in the flat lid 5. Easily scrap the concentrate out of the lid, since it is silicone coated #POTbyNOIDS #extraction #ethanol
