Why Jumpscares Suck: A Horror Game Video Essay! I wanted to explore the psychology of jumpscares in horror video games and what makes some genres of horror games so much scarier than others. I end up comparing psychological horror, action horror, and survival horror mostly, but also touch on other horror games that focus on specific phobias too! There are so many great horror games with no jumpscares in 2021, and since it's October, this is the perfect time to check out some non-jumpscare spooky games. So if you're excited for the Alan Wake Remaster, Dead Space Remake, Dying Light 2, and Resident Evil 4 Remake, this is the video for you.
