Divers find lost WW2 Dutch ship in English Channel - MV Apollonia located!

The stunning underwater visibility made for an incredible dive on a wreck that we were able to identify as a Dutch ship that was sunk on the night of 24/25 November 1940. The MV Apollonia was attacked by three German destroyers (Hans Lody, Karl Galster and Richard Beitzen) using gunfire and torpedos but the wreck had remained missing until located on the Darkstar 25 expedition. The MV Apollonia was 2,086 grt tanker built in 1931 in Rotterdam and owned by the Nederlandsch–Indische Tankstoomboot company at the time of sinking. It carried a crew of 37 of whom 14, or possibly 15, were lost at the time of sinking.
