Bowker Creek is an urban stream that flows through three municipalities (Saanich, Victoria, Oak Bay) in the City of Victoria, BC, Canada. The Friends of Bowker Creek Initiative is a stewardship organization that is working to restore and protect the creek through daylighting projects, stream bank restoration, water testing, salmon reintroduction, and rain garden installation and support. Join Eldon Goldenberg to learn about the Friends of Bowker Creek’s efforts to restore the creek and its watershed. Raingardens are a key feature to support stormwater health, and are a key nature-based solution in urban areas. "Local by Nature" is a series of short videos demonstrating nature-based solutions in local communities. The series is presented by Engage with Nature-Based Solutions, a Canadian initiative working to support communities that apply nature-based solutions to their local lands and waters. www.engagewithnbs.ca We acknowledge and take inspiration from Indigenous peoples, whose cultures and traditions support healthy ecosystems and the interconnection and importance of all living things.
