One of the most important and often overlooked parts of getting into sim racing is configuring your wheel and pedals to get a realistic and driveable response from your hardware. Makes sense right? This is often your only direct interface with a sim. As part of the Beginner view series I’m going to be outlining what settings I use for various sims and in this video that sim of choice is Dirt Rally 2. This game has some calibration built in so we need to deal with that but let's start by configuring our wheel in fanalab. These are the recommended defaults, but as a reminder, these are: ClubSport Wheel Base V2.5 Tuning Menu Settings: SEN 900 FF 100 SHO 100 DRI -02 FOR 100 SPR 100* DPR 100* FEI 100 BLI OFF *SPR has no effect, DPR is directly connected to the Wheel Friction in-game setting. With that done we can go in game. We go to options and extras from the main menu. Select our wheel and edit the profile, from within here we go to advanced settings and make sure soft lock is enabled. Having done that we can go into the feedback options, I have these set as: Vibration & Feedback: On Self Aligning Torque: 65 Wheel Friction: 15 Tyre Friction: 30 Suspension: 65 Collision: 45 Soft Lock: 45 Steering Centre Force Enabled: On Steering Centre Force: 50 Once that is done, go back to the device list and select device options with your wheel selected and then calibrate. Follow the game prompts and you're good to go. #simracing #fanalab #dirtrally2
