Following the last section of the "Diagonale des Fous - Grand Raid 2023" from La Possession to Saint-Denis. Chemin des Anglais: This route was traced in 1730 by Mr Dumas to facilitate the passage of ox carts between La Possession and Saint-Denis. The path was put into service in 1732 under the name Chemin Dumas. It was not yet paved at that time. The work of paving this path in basalt stones began in 1767 and ended in 1775. It was Mr Honoré De Crémont who was its supervisor at the time and who requested that the path linking La Possession to Saint-Denis be paved made of basalt stones and in places bordered by dry stone walls. It is the first track built on Reunion Island. It was named Chemin Crémont. During the war which opposed them to France in the Indian Ocean, the English led two first battles in 1809, one at Sainte-Rose in August and the other at Saint-Paul in September. But it was in 1810 that they definitively won this war during the battle of the Plateau de la Redoute: July 8, 1810, where the bulk of the English troops landed at La Grande Chaloupe.
