Resource Based View (RBV): The Ultimate Summary

Check out Collis & Montgomery's HBR take on the Resource Based View. You'll see some of their examples, my examples, and--spoiler alert--even some examples adapted from Michael Porter. The RBV is my favorite strategic framework, and I think it's one of the most accurate--though only when used by someone knowledgable and attuned to accurate firm data.
