http://www.Xplorefilm.com Calakmul is a real find for those who wish to visit an archaeological site that is still buried deep in a jungle, far off the tourist trail and full of wildlife. It was our favorite site, the ruins are very large and you are allowed to climb all the structures including the 50 m high Estructura ll, one of the largest known Mayan structures, it makes Chichen Itza (only 25 m tall) look small, plus you are not allowed to even touch the main pyramid at Chichen Itza. The journey getting there is part of the experience, staying overnight is a must to catch a glimpse of the wildlife including Howler monkeys, Parrots, Toucans, Ocellated Turkeys, Peccaries,agoustis and five of the six wild cats found in Mexico occupy the reserve including the sacred Jaguar.
