Studio Effects Episode 1: Reverb

Reverb is a natural effect, where a room or other space responds to a sound that is emitted within it. Reflections of the sound are thrown around the space in all directions at a speed of 330m per second (or 737mph in old money..). These spaces are synthesized either in rack reverb units or plugins, but there are also available convolution reverbs, whose operation depends on impulse responses being loaded into them. These could be Carnegie Hall, Royal Albert Hall, or any other building in the world. Here is shown the main controls of reverb, and what it does to various tracks in your mix. As always, the disclaimer is that I have no professional CV here, and this video serves only as an overview into the world of digital reverbs.
