Sometimes a song needs to wait a few years to find its true rhythm. I originally wrote this acoustic "Spaghetti Western" piece during the quiet isolation of the early COVID days, heavily inspired by the lonely, wide-open cinematic soundscapes of Ennio Morricone. For this project, I decided to completely reimagine it. Using generative orchestration, I took that original acoustic melody and dropped it into the gritty, heavy aesthetic of 1990s Bristol Trip-Hop. To bridge the gap between the delicate acoustic counterpoint and the massive new rhythm section, this track was mastered using aggressive "New York" parallel compression on the vinyl drum break, while treating the sub-bass with phantom harmonics so it growls on any speaker.
