Roy Orbison was an American singer songwriter known for his powerful, operatic voice, emotional ballads, and dramatic songwriting style. He became one of the most distinctive and influential figures in early rock and roll. He is inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987. Later in life, he joined the supergroup Traveling Wilburys with George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, and Jeff Lynne. He wasn’t a typical rock star. He often performed in dark clothes and sunglasses, standing still on stage while delivering emotional, operatic vocals. His songs blended rock, pop, and country in a way that felt cinematic and deeply personal. He was born in Vernon, Texas in 1936, Texas and passed away in Nashville, Tennessee. Even decades after his death, Orbison’s music remains timeless. His influence stretches across generations of artists, and his songs continue to appear in films, TV, and pop culture.
