Uterine artery ligation is a very important part of stepwise devascularization in the management of postpartum hemorrhage. The aim of this ligation procedure is to reduce about 80 -90 % of blood loss from the uterus. Under aseptic measures the uterine artery is ligated along with ovarian artery. The pregnancy rate from this procedure is reduced to about 50-80 %. Also there is risk of miscarriage in the next pregnancy because of this procedure.
