Strengthening NZ's oldest yacht club for future generations

Nelson Yacht Club is facing its biggest challenge in a long and proud history of sailing in Whakatū Nelson. The main building requires significant seismic strengthening to enable all the awesome activity that happens at the club to continue. This project is underway, with Stage 1 due to be completed in November. This has been achieved through investing the club's financial reserves, a variety of public fundraising events, direct donations, and some generous grants from Lion Foundation, and the New Zealand Community Trust. Stage 2 is the ground anchors that will secure the building to the seabed/foreshore. A further ~$250,000 is required, and we are continuing our efforts to raise the required funds in order to complete the work over winter 2025.
