CONTENT WARNING: This video contains scenes from the music video of “Amygdala,” a video which is age-restricted by YouTube. Although the scenes used are brief, they do nevertheless show instances of self-harm and the video/song itself likewise touch on these topics. Please watch with caution. Over ten years ago, Suga declared “Agust D is my second name,” and from that point onwards, ARMY got to meet this fierce and fiery alter ego in the form of two mixtapes, a solo album, dozens of songs, and a handful of deeply impactful music video that tell a continuing story. Agust D is still Suga, but through this persona, he gets to tell the stories he otherwise might not have been able to tell. What are those stories, and what can we learn from them? And how has Agust D as a character evolved during that process? Throughout the music videos of the Agust D Trilogy, we see not just one character using this name, but several, and we see the way their stories diverge, overlap, and eventually come together to tell one story about Suga’s life. Today, in honor of his 2025 military discharge, I’m going to talk about that impactful trilogy and its music videos, tracing the evolution of Agust D over the past ten years, and analyzing what this journey tells us about Suga, his life philosophy, and what these things can mean in our own lives. 💜The ARMY Theorist Corner is a channel dedicated to analyzing, theorizing about, and celebrating the discography of BTS! I am a proud ARMY who wants to spread my love of BTS to more people and I hope that ARMYs - whether old or new - and maybe even some curious non-ARMYs will enjoy putting their thinking caps on with me as we dive deep into BTS's amazing songs and videos. Today's video is the final video of my “Welcome Home, BTS!” series, focused entirely on Suga and Agust D. I hope you enjoyed this series of videos in honor of the members’ military releases as much as I enjoyed making them, and I look forward to exploring more topics with all of you now that BTS is reunited once more! 💜Any subtitles used during this video come directly from the source - for instance, subtitles on live broadcasts come from Weverse Live's translations.
