Video also reviews option for using a Back Weld vs. a Backing Weld. Video starts with a definition of a groove weld and describes all the joint designs where a groove weld can be made. Per definition, groove weld does not specify process, does not require a filler alloy, and is not restricted by direction of energy delivery. In addition to conventional designs and processes, welds make with friction welding, friction stir welding, flash welding, and thermit welding would also classify as groove welds.
