I recently played Batman: Arkham Asylum for the first time, and it's hard to believe that this game was released back in 2009. The graphics still hold up remarkably well. The storyline is straightforward yet captivating, complemented by stellar voice acting. The combat mechanics are incredibly fluid and provide immense satisfaction. The level design of the game is good, and the Riddler's challenges turn collecting items into an engaging pursuit rather than a tedious chore. The entire game unfolds exclusively within the confines of Arkham Asylum, yet the seamless integration of encounters with multiple Batman villains into the game world is noteworthy. The stealth mechanics in the game stood out to me in several aspects: the environment, along with Batman's array of tools, provides a range of strategies for executing stealth takedowns on enemies. Unlike other games where enemies might ignore unconscious/dead enemies, here, taking down an enemy alerts the entire area, forcing the player to go with a strategic approach to stealth rather than relying on brute force. Even the post-game challenges added to the overall enjoyment. My only criticism is that some of the tools acquired late in the game don't seem to add significant value to the overall experience.
