In a saucepot, combine milk, cream, and vanilla bean. Bring the milk mixture to 170 F. In a mixing bowl, cream the yolk and sugar together. Pour 1/3 of the milk mixture onto the yolks to temper them. Add the tempered mixture back into the pot and cook. Do not go over 170 F... Turn on the machine and churn.
