The discussion on The Counselor’s Counselor: Who is on First and What is on Second, seeks to establish a dialogue that produces resources or counseling suggestions for the pastor or leadership personnel that often find themselves counseling others. In essence, the pastor or church leadership could personally benefit from the advice they frequently suggest other individuals. “Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed” (Prov 15:22, NIV). Inadvertently underestimating the need for seeking assistance can exacerbate levels of stress. Moses, heading to the advice of his father-in-law, was able to reduce his levels of stress exponentially. As highlighted in Exodus, “Moses listened to his father-in-law and did everything he said. He chose capable men from all Israel and made them leaders of the people, officials over thousands, hundreds, fifties and tens” (Exod 18:24–25, NIV). The job of a pastor, although a calling, can have elements of stress that if unchecked can become overwhelming. Their names are Elder Anthony Mapp, Minister Suzanne Welborn, Pastor Antonio Woolard, and Minister Ellen Williams.
