/ agropreneurship On October 26, 2012, The Sonoma County Beginning Farmers and Ranchers Development Program hears a talk from Paul Vossen of the University of California Cooperative Extension (UCCE). Paul's talk covers information on tree fruit and berry production. Paul also takes us on a tour of the Shone Farm Olive Orchard. Topics covered include: basic land evaluation, water and climate, soil assessment, dry farming, irrigation, apples, wine grapes, vegetables, rooting depth, berries, hops, apple varieties, organic production. Sonoma County Beginning Farmer and Rancher Training Program The goal of this program is to give aspiring farmers and ranchers the skills they need to increase food access in Sonoma County in a sustainable and economically viable manner. Follow our 24 beginning farmers and ranchers as they explore Sonoma County Beginning Farmers and Ranchers Development Program over the next nine months. The University of California Cooperative Extension in collaboration with Santa Rosa Junior College, Small Business Development Center, and the Latino Service Providers, will provide training and a full range of supportive tools and resources to beginning farmers and ranchers in Sonoma County.
