Any growths in the cervix, which protrudes out of the mouth, the neck of the womb, then these growths are known as cervical polyps. Usually the cervical polyps are not picked up until they come as a symptom. So it may persist in the cervix as a small 1-2 cm small growth in the cervix, which are usually asymptomatic with no pain, no infection, no discharge. Any polyp which is picked up like this in the first trimester, nothing need to be done. But if the polyp is continuously causing bleeding problems, or recurrent infections, then it had to be surgically removed, but with caution. After the first trimester of pregnancy, then surgical removal or cauterization for the polyp. If it is asymptomatic, then nothing to be done. Just follow it up. Post-delivery we can deal with it. If it is symptomatic causing severe infections requiring multiple treatments with bleeding, then it can be surgically removed in the second trimester of pregnancy.
