Learn more about what to expect in an ELT installation! New 406 MHz ELTs or Emergency Locator Transmitters that are being installed in place of a legacy 121.5 MHz ELT are generally straightforward installations that can use existing mounting holes for ELTs and antennas, and with choice in the switch cut-out, added flexibility has been provided. With ARTEX ELTs, its important to remember that the installation kits come with aviation grade hardware, not phone cords. A simple ELT installation utilizing existing aircraft cabling and mounting holes for the report switch, antenna, and ELT can be completed in a few hours, while a new ELT install that needs some of the interior removed to run cables or cut-outs for switches or antennas, can take a bit longer. Remember, legacy 121 ELTs are not satellite detectable and the 2 year battery life on these aircrafts is actually more expensive to maintain than upgrading to a new 406 MHz ELT with a 5 year replaceable battery. ARTEX always recommend you find a quality, dependable, FAA certified aircraft installer to ensure your ELT is installed correctly. #ARTEX #ELT #Emergency Locator Transmitter #ELT345 #ELTInstall #ELTInstallation #ELTRequirement #ELTMandate
