Doug moved a raised bed from allotment plot 2 to allotment plot 1. It is going where the old compost bays were. This is to become a no dig raised bed as Doug doesn't need to dig just rake over the hone made compost. The hedgehog house is in the way so this has to be moved to what is now the wildlife area. At home an unfinished job awaits. I pruned some bushes back weeks ago but the thick branches needed a saw to finish the job. I have a new Mini Chainsaw by Substable and this makes light work of sawing those branches. I also take it to the front garden and remove an old jasmine plant. At the garden centre we buy a pond liner, a new planter pot some chilli plants and feet for the new planter. We drive back up the lane to the allotment. There's a gap between the two raised beds so a bag of leaf mould fills it ready for planting into. There are swede and leeks in one of the raised beds. The swede has been eaten by pigeons and something else so I remove these ready to plant some more leeks. In the raised bed by the pond are 4 parsley plants, some leeks, spring onions and 4 elephant garlic plants. I remove these as this will become a new raised no dig bed. I pot up the parsley and put the larger leeks and spring onions in another pot ready to take home. I then replant the smaller leeks and elephant garlic. Before I prepare the no dig raised bed I dig up some allysum seedlings. Cardboard is laid on the bed and given a watering. On top of that is added 3 bags of manure compost before raking it to even it out. The bird feeders need topping up and I show you some trail cam footage of wild birds feeding on them.
