Dozens join Million Marijuana March in Budapest

(21 Apr 2019) DOZENS JOIN MILLION MARIJUANA MARCH IN BUDAPEST A few dozen demonstrators marched through the Hungarian capital, Budapest on Saturday calling for the legalisation of marijuana. The event was organised by the Million Marijuana March, an international movement working to get the drug legalised and for the decriminalisation of its use. The group typically hold their marches on 20 April. Saturday's march in Budapest was spearheaded by the satirical Two-Tailed Dog political party. "This initiative has somewhat died away in Hungary in recent years, while 7-8,000 young people are persecuted by the police because of this habit of theirs (using marijuana) every year," said party member Susan Bada. Due to several restrictions put in place by Prime Minister Viktor Orban's conservative government, the current Hungarian legislation is one of the most restrictive in Europe.
