Knowing this one difference between oil paints and acrylics will make a HUGE difference to how you paint! It's not just about drying times, but how they look at the end! Stephen talks you through it... ➤ LAST WEEK: One tip to draw ANYTHING: • Want To Draw Better? How To Draw ANYTHING ... Hello and welcome to The Gold Coast Art School channel! This week, we wanted to explore a very important part of painting: drying time! Surprisingly, this can heavily impact on your final artwork. This simple part of painting is also a huge difference between acrylic and oil paints. Not only does one dry much faster than the other, but there is a TONAL DIFFERENCE between the dried paints too. Tone can refer to the colour of your painting, or how dark or light the colour is. Tone can be made darker or lighter by adding white or black, or certain other colours. It's closely related to value. When your paint is drying, it can actually become darker! In the case of acrylic paints, this is very obvious, and it is a big difference from oils. You need to know this will happen and compensate with your original acrylic paint mix. Stephen talks a lot more about this in the video, and discusses what's happening and why! We hope you learn a lot and get that magical "Aha!" moment while watching. Thank you for watching and supporting our channel, The Gold Coast Art School Team ➤ A little more about The Gold Coast Art School: Since 1995, we've been teaching creatives how to successfully paint and draw (even when they think they can't!) We have classes for beginners and intermediates, and welcome advanced artists too. Many of our students love coming to our school not only for the depth of knowledge our tutors bring to each session, but for our relaxed and welcoming community feel. Our adult art students usually use oil paints, but we encourage any medium, including acrylics, pastels and watercolours. Check out our social media and website for info, or email/call us any time to chat to Jess and book your spot in our next class! ➤ Email: [email protected] ➤ Call/Text: 0404 080 332 ➤ Address: 19 Margaret Street, Southport, QLD 4215 ➤ Website: https://www.artschool.com.au ➤ Instagram: / goldcoastartschool ➤ Facebook: / goldcoastartschool ➤ Pinterest: https://pinterest.com.au/goldcoastart... #oilpaint #acrylicpaint #artschool #arttutorial
