More tips for driving in Greece, this time driving at night from Perea (small town) to the centre of Thessaloniki, Greece's second largest city. What to expect. 0:00 Intro 0:29 Street lighting in towns 0:48 Don't expect signs to highlight road hazards like sharp corners 1:26 Loads of wildlife everywhere 1:48 Traffic lights on major roads 2:08 Traffic lights flashing orange ONLY ie not Green/Orange/Red. See it in early hours of morning at SOME traffic lights or when traffic lights are being updated/out of action. What it means 2:20 The lights BEFORE traffic lights which flash orange give notice of what traffic light will do 2:45 Petrol stations. Background, opening hours & filling up. Maybe saying 20% are open 24 hours a day is on over-estimate. 5% maybe more accurate. Less in rural areas. 3:40 Shell gas stations 4:08 95 Octane V-Power 4:29 My favourite gas station brand 4:43 Driving in middle lane on motorways 5:27 Signage indicating end of motorway 5:30 People stopped on motorway 5:40 Parking in towns/cities 7:12 Roundabout example 7:45 Classic example of crossroads with no traffic lights 8:22 Where I see accidents 8:40 Taxis 8:57 Outro. Without a shadow of a doubt, Greece is my favourite country in Europe to drive in, however things are getting more "Europeanised", for example road tolls & parking restrictions in city centres, both of which are big backwards steps. Town centres are dying in Northern Europe whereas in Greece town centres are still a hive of activity. The new toll roads inevitably destroy the original routes when they are built, meaning people are forced to use the new roads and pay the associated tolls. Thank you for watching.
