A 19-year-old woman was attacked with a machete in Pune’s Sadashiv Peth on Tuesday and the video of the incident has now surfaced on social media. The victim received injuries on her head and hand and has now been discharged after medical treatment. The incident occurred near the Perugate police chowky around 10 am, and the shocking CCTV footage capturing the incident has gone viral on social media. The girl was riding pillion on a two-wheeler when the attacker intercepted them near Hotel Nagpur. As the assailant chased the terrified woman through the streets, bystanders failed to intervene or offer assistance. However, a courageous individual named Leshpal Jawalge emerged as a hero by swiftly coming to the victim’s aid. Just as the assailant poised to strike the girl with a Koyta, Leshpal bravely intervened, managing to disarm the attacker and prevent his escape. Subsequently, others joined in and subdued the assailant, rendering him unable to cause further harm. Promptly alerting the authorities, concerned citizens handed over the assailant to the police. The motive behind the attack is believed to be one-sided love. The man has been identified as Shantanu Laxman Jadhav. The victim is 20-year-old Priti Ramchandra. The locals started throwing objects at the attacker to repel him and finally managed to restrain him and hand him over to the cops.
