The appellant is charged with showing two obscene films in a cinema on September 19, 1970. One film shows male genitalia and homosexual acts. The police took photos of parts of the films without a warrant, and the rest of the film was described in testimony. The defense argued that the photos were inadequate evidence, and the court agreed that the best evidence rule applied, which meant the photos were not good evidence. People v.
