Proverbs 26:11-12 Taumbayan Ayaw sa Magnanakaw at Abusado Network Alliance (TAMA NA!) The Philippines marks the anniversary of the 1986 EDSA People Power Revolution on Wednesday, February 25, exactly 40 years since the ouster of dictator Ferdinand E. Marcos. Various groups are holding rallies and other activities across the country to commemorate the peaceful revolution, including one at the People Power Monument along EDSA, led by the Trillion Peso March Movement, and another at the EDSA Shrine, organized by Bayan and other progressive groups. The events are all set despite President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s declaration of February 25 as a special working day — not a non-working day or holiday, unlike in past administrations. The 1986 People Power Revolution, held from Feb. 22 to 25, was a series of peaceful demonstrations in Metro Manila that led to the ouster of President Ferdinand Marcos Sr. The assassination of Sen. Benigno Aquino Jr. in 1983 sparked the mass protests. “Let us once again bear witness to the true meaning of these significant Edsa events and become catalysts for a truly free, just, democratic, and sovereign society where human dignity, people’s rights, and lasting peace are upheld,”
