Disclaimer: I am not good at this game!! This is a completed run of normal, though. I made a bunch of mistakes early, and once the speed started ramping up I was stuck playing for survival. Nonetheless, this was really fun, and I did not expect to ever complete a mode in this game, let alone doing it within two hours of release. The game only came out a couple hours ago, but TGM4 is pretty awesome. I go through phases where I'm really into TGM, but the other games in the series are so difficult out of the gate that I often feel like I'm hitting my head against a wall rather than practising. In the space of an hour, TGM4's normal mode has finally given me some intuition for stacking at 20G. On the Steam store, I thought the visuals looked a bit amateurish, but in gameplay they give you a sense of throbbing lights and an endless zooming in, they really heighten the game's intensity and from that point of view they are the best in the series. Same with the music (I don't know if it's the best in the series, but certainly fit for purpose). I'll have to do some forum-diving before I can talk about the gameplay tweaks, but fully charged DAS feels really slippery, and it seems like the charge is preserved even if you change direction. I tried to play on keyboard and it felt like every time I wanted to adjust a piece after charging DAS it just teleported to the other side of the board. I suspect this is a glitch, my arcade stick felt better. I am starting to get a feel for it, and I think the slippery movement is a major part of TGM's appeal. Beyond that, a native PC version of TGM is a grail for me--and many others, I'd imagine. The game has mostly negative reviews on Steam right now, I'm hoping it's just the post-release glitchiness and this game doesn't end up dead in the water. Normally I wouldn't review a game after two hours but I really want it to succeed. Oh yeah and Konoha is the best puzzle mode I've ever seen in a Tetris game.
