"Frugal Preservation" - John Knotts in Spavinaw, OK

A Cherokee artist, jewelry maker, and antique dealer, John Knotts is a man who devotes himself wholly to his passions. One of those passions happens to be preserving the small town where he has settled and since taken responsibility for much of the town's crumbling architecture. A hidden treasure of the Arts and Crafts movement, the town grew into a tourist destination during the 1930s thanks to the nearby Spavinaw Lake. When other lakes appeared with looser restrictions the business went away, leaving behind this sleepy town steeped in history. John now struggles to keep these buildings upright, hoping to preserve the town's legacy for new life to flow in.
