Luise Reichardt (1779 Berlin -- 1826 Hamburg) was the daughter of the composer Johann Friedrich Reichardt. She published songs with poems by leading poets whom she knew personally: Goethe, Tieck, Novalis, Brentano and Arnim. Luise Reichardt was one of the first who composed lyrics from "Des Knaben Wunderhorn" collected and written by Achim von Arnim and Clemens Brentano. She wrote more than 90 songs and choruses, all published during her lifetime. The solo songs were written for voice with piano or guitar accompaniment. The Lied "Unruhiger Schlaf" was written as a musical supplement for Achim von Arnim's novel "Gräfin Dolores" (1810). Restless sleep (translation) The cherry tree blooms, I sit there in stillness The blossom falls and yearns to fill the lips, The moon sinks too, already in the lap of the earth And shone so lively, shone so red and large! The stars blink dubiously in the blue And don't allow to watch them further! Recording: August 16, 2006. Susan Owen-Leinert, soprano. Mark Ensley, piano. Rudi E. Scheidt School of Music at The University of Memphis -- Recording Studio. Recording engineer and editing: Jeff Cline.
