Gordo Banks Scuba Diving : San Jose Del Cabo : East Cape Explorers - October, 2020

After a short 35 minute Uber ride from CSL I arrived at East Cape Explorers. There, I was met by Charlie Hay, the shop manager. Just like Solomon and Fergus from Dive Cabo, this guy was top notch. He was friendly, knowledgeable and all around cool. He took care of everything for me and made the whole day relaxing. If you are considering whether or not to do the Gordo Banks dive, stop thinking – DO IT! I can honestly say that those two dives at Gordo Banks were LIFE CHANGING. While we did not get to see hammerheads that day, we saw lots, LOTS, of sharks. Tope sharks, silky sharks, sting rays, tunas, jellyfish and the largest bait ball of jacks I have ever had the privilege to dive in. When they say Blue Water dive, they mean it! The viz was at least 100+ feet and the water was a beautiful deep blue. After a negative entry, we met at about 60 feet and dove down to about 115 feet. That is when the sea mount at Gordo One came into view and we saw at least 20+ Tope sharks. INCREDIBLE – simply incredible. After a 70 minute surface interval, we negative entered again and dove right into the middle of a “tornado” of what felt like a million large jacks. It was breath taking, something I will never forget. When I say life changing, I do not use that term lightly!
