K2 is the 2nd highest peak on the planet; and has garnered an infamous reputation for its deadliness that has even transcended the sport of mountaineering, as it's quite likely even those unfamiliar with mountaineering have at least heard of K2 and its legendarily deadly slopes. While the deadly 2008 climbing season on K2 is widely known as the deadliest in the peak's history, lesser known is the stories of the season that held the title of K2's deadliest until 2008, the 1986 summer climbing season. This is the story of that fateful summer.
