In Loving Memory of James Edward Ford Sr. | Talk at Night with Bishop V. Lyons March 17, 2024 This broadcast is dedicated to honoring the life and legacy of James Edward Ford Sr., a true pioneer of gospel radio at WLLV 101.9 FM Gospel in Louisville, Kentucky. Born April 1, 1936, James Edward Ford Sr. passed away on March 17, 2024. Mr. Ford paved the way for radio hosts like Toi Lewis and countless other African-American men who use public radio as a platform to serve the community, address real issues, and speak truth without fear. He believed in giving the community a voice and wasn’t afraid to confront what others avoided. He opened doors so the next generation could walk through them. He was deeply loved at WLLV 101.9 FM, and his presence is missed every day. Though he is no longer with us, his voice lives on through the records he left behind and the lives he touched through radio. His legacy will continue to inspire broadcasters and listeners alike. Following this tribute, Talk at Night features host Toi Lewis, joined by AB, with music by DJ Harry Johnson (aka Hurry J), in conversation with Bishop V. Lyons. The discussion covers the challenges of raising the new generation in a post-COVID world, the impact of cell phones, the internet, and the rapid pace of modern life. The conversation also addresses Code Green, cancer awareness and support events, and the urgent crisis of addiction in America, including Narcan, overdoses, and the devastating effects of fentanyl on our communities and nation. 🎙️ This is more than a broadcast—it’s a mission, a message, and a legacy.
