Mihaly Munkacsy was born on 20 February 1844, died 1 May 1900, he was a Hungarian painter. He earned international reputation with his genre pictures and large-scale biblical paintings. His works are considered the apogee of national painting. He was a standard-setter, an oeuvre of reference value.
