Iron ore is hauled in side tipper road trains from the Wiluna West iron ore mine site to Geraldton Port, a distance over 700 kms. I was travelling east from Meekatharra towards Wiluna. Two iron ore trucks approaching me were loaded. And the next morning. Was 1 empty RTA/ Hampton's heading to the mine site, at the cattle grid, eastern boundary fence of Mooloogool Pastoral Station. As I left Meeka, just on sunset. I was looking for a place to park up, to rest up for the night. Driving through the darkness, I eventually found a chance to stop. There are very little signage, to indicate parking rest bays ahead. The night scene was taken with a wrist strap held camera, and during the night a few 4wd mine vehicles passed me. The loaded iron ore side tipper road train, surprised me! With very little wind, the following dust just hanged on, not blowing away! I kept on driving, as there were headlights following me, a few kms back. Turned out, to be a 4wd service ute. The section of Goldfields Highway between Meekatharra and Wiluna, (182.9 kms) is mainly gravel top. With several sections bitumen surface of various lengths, to make it safer for overtaking or passing heavy trucks. 12 October 2021.
