Also known as Typhoeus, Typhaon or Typhos, he came closer than any other being to defeating Zeus, all-time supreme ruler of the cosmos. Not including Kratos, of course. He was the son of Gaia and Tartarus itself, literally spawn of hell. His wife was Echidna, and with her sired almost all of Greek Mythology's most iconic monsters: Cerberus, the Sphinx, the Lernaean Hydra, Scylla, the Chimera, the Nemean Lion, even the eagle which ate Prometheus' liver each night. He was born with a single purpose, to overthrow Zeus. His march on Olympus sent all gods into terrified flight. But Zeus and Nike held fast, and their battle rocked the world. The seas were burnt up, mountains toppled and drenched in blood, the land shattered. Zeus was very nearly defeated but with the help of the Satyr god Pan, eventually overcame Typhon, who ended up imprisoned below a volcano which spits out fire to this day.
