"Dr. Wang" Newton is a Taiwanese-born American performance artist specializing in the art of drag. Assigned female at birth and presently non-binary, Wang takes on hyper-masculine theatrical expression -- known in modern times as 'drag king' performance -- to give social commentary on culture and politics with comedic jabs. Wang has traveled internationally to host events and provide cheeky improvised interviews. After 16 years of performing, Wang is considered a prominent king (voted one of the top 25 in the world, and the premiere king of Asian heritage). Time Out New York says, “You’ve never seen anything like the joyously mad drag king Wang Newton. The self-aware entertainer [is] a cross breed of a perverse Benny Hill and a Japanese game show acid trip”. Over the last two decades Wang has been producing diverse big stage variety shows among other events, and presently co-produces an erotic digital show called Sacred Wounds with @Coco.Ono.
