I’ve challenged myself to day walk The Cotswold Way in the month of May. The Cotswold Way which is 102 miles long is normally walked from Chipping Campden at it’s northern end to Bath Abbey. The Cotswold Way roughly follows the western edge of the Cotswold escarpment, which means you have wonderful views across the Severn Valley towards The Malvern Hills, The Black Mountains and the Forest of Dean. My journey along The Cotswold Way in a southerly direction. Day 1 – Chipping Campden to Winchcombe 18 miles / 18 miles (this video), This video covers the route from my starting point to Winchcombe some 18 miles down the Cotswold Way. The first good view from the Cotswold escarpment is from Dover’s Hill which holds the Cotswold Olympics. Then it’s onto Broadway Tower before descending into Broadway for a quick drink in the pub. The escarpment is then climbed again to give views of May Hill, Hay Bluff and the Malvern Hills. The Cotswold Way then takes in the villages of Stanton and Stanway before climbing up hill again to give you views across the Vale of Evesham and down the Stanway tree avenue. Then it is down pass Hailes Abbey (worth looking around), through fields and along a lovely green lane into Winchcombe.
