In this video I explore pushing oil paint around to get cool and interesting painterly marks with the help of cheap palette knives and masking tape. It all starts out with an acrylic base - I then apply subsequent layers using thinner, translucent mixes of oil paint and Winsor & Newton Liquin medium. Each layer is masked with tape to create random geometric shapes, this influences the paintings balance and final outcome. Another video showing how easy it is to get started with oils and acrylics - creating cool works with the most basic materials and techniques. Have a go yourself and see what you can come up with.
