Method I came up with today while figuring out a tricky retrofit for a bridge / tremolo on this Mockingbird. It's a set neck, so there is absolutely no room for error with the bridge alignment and intonation. Using my mini Go-bar deck, which I invented for clamping frets on set neck guitars, I was able to clamp a pseudo-stop tailpiece I made to the top of the guitar. Originally I tried using a trapeze tailpiece fastened on with the strap button screw, but because of the Mockingbird's irregular curves around the strap button, it wouldn't work. I needed another way to get Did a little more thinking and came up with this. And it worked beautifully. I'll probably be using this method for all future bridge installs and retrofits. You can straightedge each side of the neck and use the scale length to rough out the intonation, but this method is far superior. Even if you're 90% of the way there, this will guarantee that you'll get the last 10% of the way to perfect intonation and perfect string alignment. You can see precisely how everything lines up, so you know when you drill your holes, there won't be any surprises. #bridge #guitar #guitarrepair #guitartech #whatsonyourbench #installation #customguitar #luthier
