A shocking video has emerged from Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh, in which a school teacher now identified as Tripta Tyagi can be seen exhorting students to hit their 8-year-old Muslim classmate. She references the word 'Mohammadan' which means Muslim. On the Video, filmed evidently by the boy's uncle, you can hear the child sobbing as another man laughs in the background. India's child rights panel has asked the media not to show the video to protect the identity of the child. The police say basis preliminary investigations, the teacher claims she wanted to speak about "Muslim mothers who do not pay attention the homework of their children". This statement does not explain how and why the child was hit or why one community was named. The opposition has widely shared the video and demanded answers. The district magistrate says all applicable laws are being applied and the teacher shall be prosecuted, along with the school which was being run illegally.
