When a heat warning is in effect, there are some simple things you can do to protect you and your family. -Always stay well hydrated by drinking plenty of water or other non-alcoholic, non-caffeinated beverages. -Wear or carry your own shade, such as a broad brimmed hat that keeps the heat and sun off your face and neck and consider wearing sunglasses that have both UVA and UVB protection. -Apply sunscreen at least 20 minutes before going out in the heat and sun that has an SPF of at least 30 and that also affords UVA and UVB protection. -You may also consider wearing lighter coloured, loose fitting clothing that covers your arms and legs, and even reschedule certain events to earlier or later in the day to avoid the most heat. It is never safe to leave a person, child or pet inside a hot vehicle. On a hot day, even a car parked in the shade can rise to an interior temperature of over 50 Degrees Celsius in just minutes. This can result in a life-threatening situation. We encourage all Albertans to get outside, enjoy the summer weather, and have fun. We also remind you to keep these safety tips in mind to keep you and your family safe. For more advice, visit: https://myhealth.alberta.ca/health/pa...
