Men in Art Curator: Leda Maria Everyday we witness art. After all, there are many different artistic genres such as music, cinema, theater, dance, literature, painting, sculpture, photography, and so on. Numerous manifestations that represent what some call a gift, I prefer to call a learning. From all these and other artistic manifestations comes the following question: Why is art so important in people's lives? Art gives us a broader understanding of the world. It brings people together by opening the channels of communication. Art gives us the means to understand life better. It allows us to marry our rationality to our emotions through our action of creating. For artists who infuse so much of themselves in their art, exhibiting their work is a very important moment. Exhibiting in New York City is special. Exhibiting in SoHo is unique! I probably will not find the words to express my own feelings when all these artists come to SoHo. Yet, the emotions will overflow at the sight of new paintings, sculptures and other wonderful artworks. Looking through an artist’s eyes is significant. Artworks reveal the artist’s take on reality and nature. Art arouses a desire, communicates dreams, and attunes an energy beyond the artwork. There is magic in the colors and the atmosphere. Something leverages itself as if communicating the love that moves us in the piece. Though I initially thought I would not find the words to express my feelings, I can say I feel such gratitude at sharing this experience with these artists. It is a fascinating journey! I feel very humble walking in this territory of feelings. Art moves us. Art makes us better people.
