VEIN | Episode 5 - "Cabin Fever" | Twila Midnight | Can I Survive?

What is going on everybody? Welcome back to The Rat’s Nest! This is chrom3rat, and we are back in the brutal world of VEIN. We’re currently safe and sound (for now) in our little lakeside cabin, but we’re starting to realize that "cozy" won’t keep the hordes out. Tonight’s shift is all about interior decorating, fortification science, and the never-ending hunt for a hammer. Inside this survival session: The Candlelight Strategy: We’re trying to turn our cabin into a beacon of light. We’ve been "borrowing" tall candles from all the neighboring cabins to brighten up our homestead so we don't have to rely on the gas generator for every little thing. Homestead Logistics: We successfully built our first Utility Cabinet. In the latest update, this not only provides storage but acts as a claim for our territory, which should hopefully prevent zombies from respawning right in our kitchen. The Workbench Reveal: After a lot of trial and error with a battery-powered circular saw, we finally constructed a Workbench. This is a game-changer because it allows us to turn standard planks into Wooden Rods, which are the core component for high-level fortifications. Dresser Drama: We spent an embarrassing amount of time wrestling with a dresser to get it into our bedroom. Between the "exertion" mechanics and accidentally placing it backwards three times, we’re slowly learning that manual labor in the apocalypse is the ultimate strength-training exercise. Military Drip: We scouted a few more tents and cabins, scoring a Military Backpack and a Puffer Jacket for when the winter chill really sets in. We’re currently rocking a "stolen valor" look, but it’s keeping us warm and hydrated. Z-Combat Woes: We’re still getting used to the reach of the boat paddle. I managed to get scratched by a crawler because I got too greedy with the hits—gotta remember to stay back and respect the reach. We’ve got the foundations of a base, a workbench ready for production, and a utility cabinet full of scavenged loot.
