The BIOAGRO ENERGY system is based upon a four-year 5 million EURO EU LIFE Environment project. This project was carried out from 1 January 2006 to 30 November 2009. It was targeted towards developing and implementing an innovative method to reduce greenhouse gas output from the agricultural sector. The project website can be found at: http://www.bioagrolife.com The project involved the seed industry, combustion technology industry and academia. It resulted in a complete facility for agricultural waste reduction, renewable energy supply, carbon neutral fuel production, as well as a demonstration system. It was realized by the two project partners the seed company Skånefrö AB (http://www.skanefro.se) and the combustion technology company HOTAB, Sweden. (http://www.hotab.se) Main Results and Experiences: · A pilot-scale production plant for producing pellets on a smaller scale prior to large-scale production. · A way to mix biomass in specific proportions together with additives for balancing the fuel composition for optimal combustion performance. · A large-scale facility for producing biomass pellets at 3 tonnes per hour for combustion usage. · A new biomass residue pellet fuel - Bioagropellets™. · Bioagropellets™ can be sold to large-scale heating plants and used in 20% of the current small-scale pellet furnaces for residential use. · A new type of pellet furnace that is specifically designed for combustion of agricultural residue pellets. These pellet furnaces have been designed in two sizes: 250kW and 1250 kW. · A 100% reduction of waste from an agricultural seed production company. · A closed-loop energy system providing 100% fossil fuel free heating of buildings and drying operations. · A 100% reduction of methane emissions from decaying agricultural residues. · A district heating initiative to use the heat generated at the project facility. · Dissemination of project results to delegations from over 45 countries at project facility study visits. · In collaboration with Ecoera AB ( http://www.ecoera.se ) A new way of sequestering carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, using biochar created from Bioagropellets™ Learn more about how to purchase this sustainable biofuel or set up your own facility at: http://www.bioagroenergy.com
