CNC Broaching on Haas VF2

Multi-directional CNC broaching demo on a Haas VF2 equipped with spindle-orientation. The broaching cycle was programed using Autodesk Inventor HSM 2016. In this demo, we're cutting 6061-T6 aluminum and have successfully cut material up to 4140 Steel. Very little cutting force is exerted on the spindle because we pre-mill the center of the intended cut area as well as take very small cuts (0.05mm) at a time. It's also very important that the tool cut all the way through ending up in open space and not bottoming out on material. We designed and developed the broach toolholder in-house which uses an inexpensive standard HSS square toolbit (as used in lathes and flycutters).
