Painting Pastels over an Acrylic Underpainting

I learned the underpainting process that is created in this demo from Rita Kirkman, an incredible artist from Texas. This method creates grit from acrylic mediums and paints so the pastels will grip when you add them, it reinforces the values of your subject, and adds a glow to your final piece. There are some advantages to working this way that are discussed in the video. The video was filmed from a small workshop I taught in October, so you will hear some of the discussion and comments made by the participants.
